Laser treatment for excessive sweating

A Minimally Invasive Solution for Excessive Sweating

The treatment of hyperhidrosis is a minimally invasive solution for excessive sweating. The treatment (known as Laser Axillary Hyperhidrosis Treatment) is a safe and effective solution for hyperhidrosis – excessive sweating of the underarms. Laser treatments are among the least invasive of all surgical techniques, so scarring and patient immobilisation are not a concern.

A growing number of doctors consider the Nd:YAG laser to be the treatment of choice for hyperhidrosis due to its simplicity, speed and low risk of complications.

How our laser treatment for excessive sweating works

For treating hyperhidrosis, a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser light is used to permanently destroy axillary sweat glands by photo-selectively heating the gland without damaging surrounding tissue. Performed under local anesthetic, this treatment is complete in less than one hour and usually follows this three-step procedure:

  • Locate – Before the operation, underarms are coated with iodine, and starch is used to identify the precise location of the sweat glands.
  • Irradiate – A 3 mm incision is made through which a cannula with an optical fibre is passed. A QCW 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser beam is fired through the optic fibre to destroy the glands.
  • Remove – A grating cannula is used to remove the destroyed sweat glands.

Our most advanced systems for hyperhidrosis

The multi-application XP Dynamis includes a high-performance QCW Nd:YAG surgical laser and a built-in, non-ablative, long-pulse Nd:YAG aesthetic laser. Having the two lasers at your fingertips enables an extremely wide treatment range including hyperhidrosis, EVLA and more. To ensure maximum selectivity during treatments, Fotona's XP Line and SP Line systems feature a special QCW mode in which localised spikes reach power levels in the kW range. This enhances the selective effect of the laser when targeting the tissue, ensuring greater speed, efficiency and safety during all surgical procedures.
