Two wavelengths, endless opportunities

The most versatile Fotona laser systems (The SP Line), benefit from two complementary laser wavelengths that work to get the right results across all uses and applications. These wavelengths are Nd:YAG (for the treatment of deep-lying structures) and Er:YAG (for the treatment of more superficial lesions).

Making use of both wavelengths achieves superior clinical results, such as in the revolutionary Fotona4D® Facelift treatment.

For the treatment of deep-lying structures (such as permanent hair reduction and the treatment of deep-lying veins and vascular lesions), Nd:YAG lasers are used. This laser light has the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin to selectively target even the deepest skin structures such as hair follicles.

Treatment of the uppermost layers of skin, such as collagen remodelling, skin tightening and laser peels requires Er:YAG laser technology.

The Er:Yag has been used by Fotona in a new and patented way with its SmoothMode technology. This enables collagen stimulation – neocollagenesis and tightening of existing collagen fibres to occur without tissue damage

Er:Yag can still be used in its traditional way allowing extremely precise, micron layer-by-layer ablation of the skin. This laser energy is absorbed by water content in the skin cells meaning the tissue can be vapourised. This causes the treated epidermis to shrink, stimulating the production of new collagen in the skin for results that form a new, smoother and tighter appearance

As part of the advanced SP Dynamis and XP Dynamis systems, a powerful QCW Nd:YAG laser is added specifically for surgical treatments such as laser lipolysis, EVLA and hyperhidrosis.

Unique laser technology

Much of Fotona’s leading medical technology is patented, which has enabled them to design and manufacture the world’s most advanced systems. Their high-performance systems are powered by either Nd:YAG or Er:YAG wavelengths and the most versatile systems incorporate both. Their Q-switched laser technology holds current patents, with further pending as the technology develops.

The systems use solid-state, crystal laser sources that generate the industry’s most proven and effective treatment wavelengths that are suitable for a vast range of clinical and aesthetic procedures. This is further enhanced by various operating modes and supplementary handpieces, all to ensure maximum efficiency and performance within your clinic, across all treatment types.

Advanced safety features

A distinct aspect of the laser technology we provide is its safety features. We know the safety and well-being of your clients is paramount, that’s why we only provide technology with the most advanced features.

The most impressive safety feature is the VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology. The VSP avoids the slow rise and long drop-off in pulse power and minimises excess laser energy absorption into the skin and other tissues, through the use of precisely controlled sequences of square-shaped pulses.

This serves to maximise patient safety, as less evolved systems transfer unnecessary laser energy into body tissues, which is inefficiently converted to heat, increasing the risk of unwanted side effects and lessening results of the treatment.

Another pioneering safety feature is the advanced level of EFC (Energy Feedback Control) within Fotona lasers. The EFC actively controls and monitors each lasers’ pulsating energy level, meaning output energy is continuously regulated by two energy metres. Therefore, ensuring the output energy is matched to the treatment parameters selected, for safe and effective operation.

This feature also eliminates the need for the tedious manual calibration procedure required by many other systems at switch on. You will have more time to focus on the treatment at hand and the overall safety of your patient.

A final and outstanding safety feature of Fotona laser technology is their OPTOflex® and Vacuum Cell technologies. These groundbreaking optical solutions produce an almost perfectly homogeneous beam profile, which ensures greater safety during treatments as the laser energy is distributed evenly across the treated area.

This also means minimal epidermal damage and a much lower risk of bleeding, tissue splatter and transient textural changes in the skin. All advanced Q-switched lasers are equipped with patented OPTOflex® and Vacuum Cell technologies.
