Laser Treatment For Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Advanced Laser Treatment For Snoring and Sleep Apnea

NightLase is a unique and effective way to treat snoring and sleep apnea

Snoring and sleep apnea are common causes of disrupted sleep amongst many people. NightLase is a patented, simple and painless procedure that lessens the effects of snoring and sleep apnea by using the latest laser technology to reduce tissue surface area in the throat and mouth. This is the most advanced laser treatment for snoring on the market to date.

How laser treatment for snoring and sleep apnea works

Gentle, non-ablative lasers target the oral mucosa tissue and a contraction of collagen causes a tightening effect. This in-turn opens up the area for a more free flow of air through the passage, reducing sleep apnea for up to one year in most patients. The tightening effect also leads to an attenuation of the sound of the patients snoring. The procedure is carried out in two simple steps:

Step 1 Pre-conditioning – whereby the laser light preheats the tissue
Step 2 Tissue Strengthening – where laser light is used to strengthen the tissue

A full course of NightLase ® is comprised of three separate treatment sessions over a six week period. Results last up to one year in many patients. When they notice the effects diminishing, another round of treatment can be performed on the patient.

The importance of wavelength

A strong yet gentle Er:YAG laser with optimised pulse length is needed to perform this simple, two-step procedure. Fotona’s proprietary Er:YAG modality allows for the superficial penetration of heat into the tissue without damage or adverse effects. It is gentle enough to be used on the sensitive tissue inside the mouth, but strong enough to provide clinically effective heating.

Any Fotona system with an Er:YAG laser light source (such as the SP Dynamis, XS Dynamis or Fotona Smooth XS, plus the necessary handpiece) can be used to carry out this procedure with excellent results.

Our advanced systems provide laser treatment for snoring

We recommend the SP Dynamis as the most advanced system to carry out NightLase on your patients. This line of Fotona’s leading-edge medical devices works to transform your clinic, with the widest available range of treatments from one laser system. This system has a high-powered Er:YAG laser light and an Nd:YAG both at your fingertips. To offer the patented NightLase treatment to your patients the PS03 handpiece is required. Other Fotona systems with an Er:YAG laser light source (XS Dynamis or Fotona Smooth XS) combined with the necessary handpiece can be used to carry out NightLase with same great results.
